Chiropractic and Acid Reflux

Acid Reflux - or “GastroEsophageal Reflux Disease” (GERD) - has become a huge problem in our society today.

Can Chiropractic care help?

Yes and No.

Let me explain:  If a person’s spine is out of alignment (subluxated) resulting in an irritation, or pinching, to the nerves that coordinate the function of the digestive system, then “YES”, Chiropractic care can be of benefit.

However, I also believe that in almost every case of GERD, there is also a Nutritional component that must also be addressed.

In fact, I feel that there are actually TWO nutritional components that need to be addressed:

  1. 1)Food Allergies / Sensitivities

  2. 2)Digestive Enzymes

I am currently working on a SPECIAL REPORT that goes into greater detail about the powerful results we often see when treating individuals who suffer with GERD.

The treatment focuses on specific Chiropractic corrections (adjustments) combined with the identification and elimination of suspected foods (especially wheat, dairy, soy, tomatoes, onions, sugar and fruits) as well as the following nutritional supplement protocol that provides the body with digestive enzymes:

With each meal, we recommend taking from one to three Zypan and one to three Okra Pepsin E3 tablets (both are Nutritional Supplements from a tremendous company, Standard Process).

While on your experimental week, eat until you are only three-quarters full. This is critical, because the stomach needs a little extra space to churn and swirl its contents with the digestive enzymes. If your stomach is stuffed completely full of food, the swirling and churning will force food into the esophagus simply because there’s not enough room in your stomach.

After one week’s time, there is usually a significant improvement.  Further recommendations are then made, based upon the results seen.

Please note that NONE of this is to be considered as medical advise.  This is just information being shared regarding my opinion.  It is recommended that you consult with your health care practitioner before beginning any health related program.
